The Latest Association Business Notes …
The following were key points and resolutions from the USCGA Alumni Association’s Board of Director’s meeting in New London, CT on July 27-28, 2007
- Approved the minutes of the March 2007 meeting
- Approved Gift Acceptance Policy Statement which details all internal procedures to be followed for all categories of gifts and acknowledgement letters to be sent with designated signers depending on gift level.
- Reviewed 2007 member survey and used data for input to update the Strategic Plan which will be further discussed with Association president and staff with 2008 target goals for intended approval at November Board meeting.
- Received update from Superintendent Scott Burhoe regarding appropriated funding, C3ORE report and Class of 2011. Captain Kurt Colella (Ret),’81, Dean of Academics briefed on Institute for Leadership. Both expressed great appreciation of alumni support.
- Received final feasibility report and proposal from Changing Our World, fundraising consultants, and will continue to review.
- Approved recommendation to mail paper copy of directory to all members. Directory will be an alphabetical listing of members with an additional section providing a listing of members by state.
- Nominating committee reported out the following slate of Directors by graduation category with terms commencing in 2008: 0-15 years since graduation — Mr. Jeffrey Kingsley, ’93; 15-30 years — Mr. Scott Memmott, ’87; more than 30 years — CAPT Charles Williams (Ret), ’72; at-large — RADM Richard Larrabee (Ret), ’67. Slate unanimously approved by the Board.
- Awards Committee reported out the following Alumni Association Awards: Distinguished Alumnus — CAPT Calvin B. Early (Ret), ’52; ADM J. William Kime (Ret), ’57 (posthumously); Alumni Achievement — LCDR Sean Carroll, ’94; Distinguished Service — Captain Harvey F. Orr (Ret), ’63; Distinguished Volunteer — Mr. Donald Miller; Distinguished Philanthropist — Mr. Anthony J. Lutkus, ’64; Distinguished Faculty — Captain Robert Ayer, ’79. All nominees unanimously approved by the Board.
- Next meeting of the Board will be November 16-17, 2007 in New London, CT.
