USCGA Basketball Experiences March Madness!

USCGA Men's Basketball
In the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament, Senior Jeff Prebeck led all scorers with 24 points to go with his game-high 10 rebounds while junior Craig Johnson sank a pair of free throws with 3.8 seconds left to ice the game. Coast Guard set a single-season record for wins, holding off Trinity 70-65.
Coast Guard defeated host UMass Dartmouth in the second round on Saturday March 8th at 7 p.m. winning 50-47 to earn berth to the Sweet 16. They defeated #13-ranked Rochester at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, on Friday, March 14th, and went all the way to the Elite 8, losing to host #16-ranked Ursinus College in overtime on Saturday, march 15th. USCGA Women's Basketball
The women hosted Maine Maritime for the first round of the ECAC New England Division III Tournament Wednesday March 5th. The Bears won decidedly: 74-47, and advanced to the semifinals where they defeated fourth-seeded Endicott 56-39 on Saturday March 8th.
Top-seeded Coast Guard won its first ECAC Division III New England Tournament Championship 77-63 over third-seeded Fitchburg State. (For more details, link here) |
