Recap of Alumni Association Activities

For week ending 3/31/07
Board meeting held from 29-31 March. Summary of activities/actions taken listed below.
- Meeting held in conjunction with Annual Ethics Forum-keynote speaker Admiral Bob Kramek '61. Board members attended breakout sessions with cadets covering a wide variety of disciplines and related ethics issues.
- The board approved the minutes of the November 2006 meeting
- Received audited financial reports from Crehan Sapia Group, LLC , Certified Public Accountants. Association in solid financial position with assets in excess of $20 million. Highlights included $3.4 MM raised in 2006 with $1.07 million provided to the Corps of Cadets from endowments and class funds. Copy of report will be posted on Web site and published in June Bulletin.
- Approved the transfer of remaining holdings from the Vanguard Group to Charles Schwab to give us better reporting tools and incorporate one custodian for entire investment portfolio.
- Received briefing from Commandant, Admiral Thad Allen ’71, on a variety of CG issues and concerns. Pledged his support to help the Alumni Association in any way possible.
- Superintendent, RDML Scott Burhoe, and staff briefed class representatives present for annual meeting on CGA issues including the Comprehensive Climate and Culture Optimization Review Effort (C3ORE Task Force Study). Cadets also provided insight on present day cadet life and expressed appreciation for Association sponsored programs. [The report is available at the CG website.]
- Survey to be distributed among membership in June 2007 to follow up from 2005 survey and incorporate suggestions and ideas for program enhancements and services.
- Next board meeting to be held at the Alumni Center on July 27-28, 2007.
