Wrestling: 1/c Giorgio dominates with a 34-0 record

All-American 1/c Nate Giorgio continues to impress with a CGA record of 34-0, 101 career wins, and he became the first Coast Guard wrestler to win a championship at the All-Academy Championships earlier this month in the 133 pound weight class. When Coast Guard Wrestling beat Merchant Marine on Wednesday night for the first time in 8 years, they secured the Superintendent's Trophy for the Bears, 9-2.

Cadets Hone Hacking Skills at Cyber Defense Competition

CyberStakes Live, hosted by the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency (DARPA), was a decathlon-style computer security competition that set the 10 best teams against each other -- three from the other service academies and one from the Coast Guard Academy -- and then mixed the competitors and let joint teams go head to head.

Tom Friedman Selected as 2015 Hedrick Fellow

New York Times’ journalist Thomas Friedman will visit the Academy on Monday, February 23 as the 20th Hedrick Fellow. Mr. Friedman will participate in cadet-led academic seminars, attend a dinner in his honor and will deliver the Hedrick Fellowship Address to the Corps of Cadets on the evening of the 23rd.


Sulmasy '88 Named First Provost of Bryant University

CAPT Glenn M. Sulmasy, J.D., L.L.M., '88, who is retiring from the Coast Guard, has been named the first provost and chief academic officer at Bryant University in Rhode Island. He has been serving as the Coast Guard Academy's dean of the Department of Humanities and Professor of Law.
