CGA Lacrosse to go varsity in 2015

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Division of Athletics announced May 13 that it will elevate the men’s and women’s club lacrosse teams to varsity status, effective with the 2014-15 academic year. The teams will compete officially for the first time as Division III intercollegiate squads playing in the NEWMAC Conference in the spring of 2015.

Alumni honored during 2013 Hall of Heroes Ceremony

The Academy inducted 10 alumni into the Hall of Heroes on April 26, including retired CAPT Paul Langlois '76 - who was joined by around 70 of his classmates. The ceremony honors the heroic accomplishments of graduates.

New Research Vessel Christened

Members of the Class of 1961 joined family members of their classmate Michael Greeley on April 26 at the Academy for the christening of the new marine science research vessel named in his honor. Sponsored by the Class of 1961, the vessel greatly expands the Academy’s capabilities to conduct oceanographic research in the marine science curriculum.


West by Sea - The Trip of a Lifetime

When Ed Beale's (CGA '92) wife learned of her brain cancer in early 2006, it was a shock to both of them. Eight years later the Beales are embarking on the journey of a lifetime - sailing around the world - to inspire others to follow their dreams. Last Call for Board Applications, Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Nominations

Applications are requested to fill four seats on the Board of Directors for four-year terms beginning in 2014. Nominations are also sought for the 2013 Annual Alumni Awards and CGA Athletic Hall of Fame, which will be awarded at a dinner the Thursday night before Homecoming (Oct. 18-19). The deadline is May 31.


New London To Host $100M Coast Guard Museum

Plans for a five-story, 50,000 square foot National Coast Guard Museum located in downtown New London were unveiled on April 5, 2013 at an event attended by ADM Robert Papp '75.
