President gives nod to New London in the State of the Union
President Obama obliquely referenced the Coast Guard Academy in his State of the Union Address last night, calling out the "newest officers" from New London.

As I finish my second week as your Alumni Association President, I am surprised everyday at all that goes on here at the Alumni Center. Wednesday we hosted the Link in the Chain annual planning meeting with representatives from the Classes of 1965-1969 and 2015-2018.

We are extremely proud of our Athletic Hall of Fame and those past athletes and honorary members worthy to be named. Each year the Academy can add up to four regular members (graduates after their 20th anniversary of their graduation) and one honorary member (individuals who have made significant contributions to CGA Athletics).

Guedry '99 Joins Staff as Major Gifts Coordinator
The Alumni Association is pleased to announce that LCDR Kim Guedry, USCGR, ’99 has joined the staff as our new Major Gift Coordinator. She will be assisting with research on alumni, participating in strategic planning for future fundraising initiatives and building relationships with alumni toward the goal of increasing support for our programs and the Academy.

Cooley '03 Featured in NYT Magazine
The New York Times Magazine article "The Wreck of the Kulluk" documents the harrowing rescue of 18 off of a detached oil platform in the arctic led by helicopter pilot LCDR Jim Cooley '03. "If the Kulluk’s deck was pitching that could imagine what the derrick was doing. It looked as if it were trying to bat the helicopters out of the sky."
