All members of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association are invited to submit nominations for the Alumni Association Awards (list and criteria below). Presentation of the awards will be at the Homecoming Awards Dinner on the Thursday night before Homecoming at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Distinguished Mentorship Award (introduced in 2015)

Description: Awardees provide outstanding support, encouragement and inspiration; serve as role models; and help others discover their strengths, improve their weaknesses and achieve their full potential. These individual contributions have a direct and positive impact on members of the Coast Guard and the broader communities the Coast Guard serves.

Criteria: Nominees should meet at least 3 of the following 4

  • Outstanding service: the nominee is recognized by staff, peers, supervisors and/or colleagues as a dedicated mentor
  • Level of commitment: the nominee regularly goes above and beyond as a mentor
  • Scope of mentorship: the nominee creates both formal and informal opportunities to mentor individuals resulting in impacts within the Coast Guard or local community
  • Future focus: the nominee is a staunch advocate for the benefits of mentoring and teaches others to mentor. Actions are an inspiration for others to help develop and sustain both the current and future members of the Coast Guard family

Eligibility: Those eligible for nomination include any person with a current or prior Coast Guard affiliation to include cadets, officers (active, reserve and prior service), enlisted (active, reserve and prior service), civilian employees, faculty, members of the Coast Guard Academy Parent Association and members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Spouses and dependents of the aforementioned categories may also be nominated.


Distinguished Alumnus Award

Criteria:

  • Nominee must be a graduate of Coast Guard Academy
  • Nominee must have distinguished himself/herself in his/her career in and/or out of the Coast Guard
  • Nominee must have Significant Professional or Civic Service
  • Nominee must be considered an outstanding role model for cadets.


Alumni Achievement Award

Criteria:

  • Nominee must be a graduate of Coast Guard Academy
  • Nominee must have significant achievement in career or private life: In and/or out of the Coast Guard/Significant Professional or Civic Service
  • Nominee’s class must have graduated no more than 20 years ago.(For 2019 Award, Nominee must have been in Class of ’99 or later).
  • Nominee must be considered an outstanding role model for cadets.


Distinguished Volunteer Award

Criteria: Nominee must have provided volunteer/unpaid service to the Coast Guard Academy or the Alumni Association


Distinguished Service Award

Criteria: Nominee must have contributed extraordinarily to the Alumni Association through their personal efforts, support, dedication, commitment, and service.
