"Dave [Young '49] valued his experiences and his long-term affiliation with the U.S.Coast Guard Academy. Although he served as an officer in the Naval Reserves as well, the Coast Guard Academy was truly his home. Dave was fully invested in the development and preservation of the USCGA, as a means to continue the legacy of service. In life, Dave fully exemplified the meaning that underlies the concept of the long blue line. Through his inurnment at the USCGA Columbarium, he is able to continue his connections with the prior, current, and future cadets and officers of the USCGA."

- Bonnie Young, widow of CAPT A. "Dave" Young, Jr., USCGR (ret), Class of 1949

"It gives our family such peace and joy knowing that Ron [Blendu '66] will forever have a place at the Coast Guard Academy. Ron believed in what the CG and Academy stood for. It gave him such joy to give back to the place that gave him opportunities in life, but most importantly, true lifelong friendships. It is such a privilege to be part of the CG Family. Many thanks to all that participated and worked so hard to get this project done. I know the Columbarium will be used by many Coasties as their final resting place.

- Betty Blendu, widow of Mr. Ronald D. Blendu, Class of 1966

"Paul [Versaw '61] grew up in a Coast Guard family. Graduating from New London High School and later from the Coast Guard Academy, he spent 37 happy years in the Coast Guard. With the culmination of his career as Superintendent of the Academy ('93-97') his love for our service, it's people and its purpose had always been foremost in his thoughts. With the new Columbarium, he is again, at home in New London. It is such a wonderful addition, on the Academy grounds, for those who feel the closeness of our Coast Guard family and find it to be a perfect resting place."

- Margie Versaw, widow of RADM Paul Versaw, USCG (ret), Class of 1961

“Gloria and I were married at the chapel the day after graduation. How many people are going to be able to say that they were married and then spend eternity within 100 yards of each other? For us, it was just perfect. That’s the reason we are so enthusiastic about it.”

-CDR Hank and Gloria Fisher, USCG (ret), Class of 1953
