Elect Your Board of Directors - Ballot Due by Oct. 18

The Nominating Committee has nominated the following four individuals to be members of the Board of Directors of the USCGA Alumni Association, Inc. for the four-year period January 1, 2016, through December 31, 2019, subject to the vote of the members. All regular members are asked to vote by by October 18, 2015. Click below to vote online. You may also vote in person during Homecoming Weekend (October 15-18, 2015) or mail in the ballot (pdf).

LT Matthew B. Williams, USCG, ’07

(less than 15 years since graduation)
LT Williams served on the ELM and CHASE before attending The College of William and Mary and earning his Master of Science in Computational Operations Research in 2013. In addition to his primary role as a Mathematics Instructor at the Academy, he volunteers as the Eclipse Cadet Leadership Council Representative Faculty Advisor, the Admissions Minority Outreach Team (AMOT) Liaison Officer, and an Academy Admissions Partner. He is a qualified Officer in Charge for the Coastal Sail Training Program, and an Assistant Coach for Men’s Tennis, and is completing his Master of Business Administration at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina.

CDR Joseph Vorbach III, USCG (ret), ’87

CDR Vorbach is a 1987 graduate of the Academy and has served as the Head of School at Bishop O’Connell High School since 2008. In addition to earning his bachelor’s degree in government from the Academy, he holds a master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) and a Ph.D. in international relations from Tufts University’s Fletcher School.  In 2013, he earned a master’s degree in academic administration from Marymount University. CDR Vorbach served for 12 years as a member of the faculty at the Coast Guard Academy teaching history, government, foreign policy, international relations and security policy.

Mr. Steven G. Schember ’67

Mr. Steven Schember is a 1967 graduate from the Academy and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan is 1970. He is Board Certified by the Florida Bar Association in Civil Trial Litigation and is certified by the American Arbitration Association as a construction and commercial disputes arbitrator. For the past two decades, Mr. Schember has served on the Board of Directors of the Outback Bowl in Tampa, FL including serving as Chair of the Board in 2007 where he oversaw team selection, marketing, sales, and contract negotiation and sponsorship.

Mr. Robert W. Foos ’07

Mr. Robert Foos is a 2007 graduate of the Academy and now serves as the Director of Development and Chief of Staff of The TerraMar Project, a web-based, ocean conservation non-governmental organization. During his Coast Guard service, he served onboard CYPRESS, as Commanding Officer of SEA DRAGON, and in various roles in the Coast Guard Seventh District. He is an active Academy Admissions Partner and supports several Veteran’s organizations near his home town of Falmouth, MA.
